Q: How long does Cefzil stay in your system?
A: The elimination half life of Cefzil is approximately 1.5 hours, assuming your kidneys are healthy.
This means 50% of the drug will have left your body 1.5 hours after your last dose (this should at the end of the 7-10 days). I hope that makes sense to you.
Q: Hi! Im taking Cefzil and wondered if I can drink alcohol while on it, such as wine?
Would it cause various symtoms like nausea and headaches, etc OR would it cause the med to be ineffective?
TIA :-)
A: Alcohol is not listed in the contraindications for that drug. You should be fine.
Q: If I am allergic to amoxicillin, cefzil, septra and ceftin?
Can I take Omnicef?
A: No, Omnicef is a cephalosporin like cefzil and ceftin. Looks like you cannot take any of the beta-lactam drugs, cephalosporin and penicillin class drugs. About 10% of people who are allergic to one of the beta-lactam antibiotic classes will be allergic to the other too. That is too bad, as probably 90% of all antibiotics fall into one of those two classes. But it is important to know. If you get a severe reaction, difficulty breathing and swelling, you need to get a medical alert bracelet to indicate your allergy to these drugs.
Q: cefzil for strep?
the doctor perscribed my cefzil 250mg tablets twice a day for 10 days for strep throat. ive had three doses (last night, this morning, and tonight) and it has had no effect except take away the fever. i still have a sore throat....was this the right medicine to perscribe? anybody take this before and had same effects? another doctor gave me amoxicillin when i had strep before and i felt better after one dose...why?
A: It's a different medication. It is an antibiotic, that's why you take it for 10 days. I don't think it's as aggressive as amoxil is, but it should still work. Just keep taking it and if it hasn't helped in a few days, call your doctor back and tell them. You may need a tougher antibiotic.
Q: my daughter just finishes cefzil and now she has a rash....its some hives and tiny bumps...could it be allergy
even after she finished med?help
A: My daughter had the same thing, when she was an infant. The doctor said that it is very common, not an allergy, and it cleared up a few days after the medication. Take her in though to make sure that this is what your daughter has. Good luck.
Q: what can i do about my swollen cheek? Its worse today then yesterday... i have taken 3 doses of cefzil so far.
I just took 1 motrin also. I'm really scared about this.
A: Goldenhairgirl, you have posted three questions in the past hour about your increasing swelling. You MUST get this checked out in the morning. The last person who posted a series of messages that sounded amazingly like yours ended up in the hospital with a surgical drain placed in her neck (It will leave a scar.), because she was asking people on Yahoo! what to do about it instead of taking care of it properly.
Do NOT try to beat the system and "fix" it with your own antibiotics that you have left over from some previous infection. They are probably outdated anyway. I personally will not answer any more questions about your condition unless you see a dentist in person. I do not want to be a part of delaying your necessary treatment.
FOR TONIGHT ONLY, may I suggest:
In addition to using the pain medication of your choice, sleep on an extra pillow to elevate your head. Sleep on the side that does NOT have a toothache. If that doesn't work, you can move to a recliner or the sofa so you can keep your head really elevated. This will minimize the blood flow to the area and therefore minimize the throbbing and pain. This might help you make it through the night until you can see a dentist.
Q: can cefzil help with an absess tooth? at first i thought i had a sinus infection, but my cheek is swollen.?
A: Yes it can, but it is not definitive treatment. You should call your dentist to be seem as soon as possible. If you just CAN'T for a couple of days, cefzil is active against most dental infections. It's only a short-term measure, though.
Q: Cefzil antibiotic?
Does anyone know how long this medication is good for? I have some that was prescribed to me in 2003, and there's a good amount left that could still be used. Should I throw them out or are they still okay to be used?
Please, helpful answers only......
A: There should be an experation date on the bottle. IF not I would would say to toss them out f they are 4 years old. The chances of them being effective arent that great
Q: what is the drug cefzil?
A: CEFZIL (cefprozil) is a semi-synthetic broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic. To reduce the development of drug-resistant bacteria and maintain the effectiveness of CEFZILĀ® and other antibacterial drugs, CEFZIL should be used only to treat or prevent infections that are proven or strongly suspected to be caused by bacteria.
In other words, a mulit-purpose antibiotic. Not to be used for viral infections like colds or flu, only bacterial infections. Hope that helps!!!
Q: what type of drug is CEFZIL(cefprozil)?
is it a good drug for swollen tonsils?
A: It is an antibiotic. It could be used if you have an infection.
Q: Sulfa allergy - What antibiotics can I take?
I just had an allergy to Bactrim, so now I can't take any sulfa drugs. I also had an allergy to Cefzil when I was younger, so I can't take whatever type of drug that is. WHAT'S LEFT?
A: ASK A PHARMACIST....AND IF IT SEEMS AS THO I AM YELLING>>>>>IT IS BECAUSE I AM!
Q: can i take antibiotics while taking zyrtec?
i am taking an antibiotic called cefzil (cefroprozil) its for bacterial infections and my doc also gave me zyrtec, those things wont interact right???
A: .I'm sure your doctor is aware of all the medicine you're taking.and wouldn't prescribe Zyrtec if it was detrimental to your recovery.
Q: is it safe to drink alcohol if i took cefprozil last night @ 10?
If i took cefprozil at 10pm last night, is it safe to drink alcohol?
i took it at like 10pm feb 19.
is it safe to drink alcohol tonight, 20th, at like 10?
www.rxlist.com/cefzil-drug.htm
A: Cefzil (cefprozil) can cause dizziness, alcohol may intensify this effect. Don't skip a dose of medication just so you can have a drink. If you want to have a drink, go ahead, just don't drive because of the dizziness.
Q: LGBT: What are you allergic to?
I am allergic to this medicine called Cefzil. It nearly killed me when I was 4. I had a super bad fever, my throat was almost completely closed over, and vomit was coming up my throat and could hardly come out (sorry for the image haha.) I was in the hospital for a night, though. They gave me something that opened my throat back up. Scary night for me.
Are you allergic to anything?
A: Nothing... that I'm aware of.
Q: i thought i had a sinus infection, now im thinking it may be an absess tooth.?
Im not in any pain.My cheek is swollen , probably from the absess. I am taking Cefzil. I also just took 1 motrin. Should i take another motrin for the swelling? Rinse with salt water?
A: If your not in pain, it's probably not an abcess tooth. Do you have any of these symptoms?:
Toothache
Severe, continuous pain
Gnawing or throbbing pain
Sharp or shooting pain
Pain when chewing
Sensitivity of the teeth to hot or cold
Bitter taste in the mouth
Breath odor
Possible fever
Swollen glands of the neck
General discomfort, uneasiness, or ill feeling
Swollen area of the upper or lower jaw -- a very serious symptom
You said there was no pain, so it might be a sinus infection. Is your mucus lime green color?
Either way, you need to see a doctor.
