Q: How Do U Know If-ADVAIR DISKUS?
When u take a dose of ADVAIR DISKUS:
How do u know if u got the dose in u???
A: 1. I can usually taste it slight light powder on the tongue.
2. When you click back the next number appears in the little window by the little thumb slide. If you don't see it take it back to pharmacy and they can show you it's real simple . It's a tiny white square with little black numbers that tell how many doses are left in the cartridge.
Remember Advair is not a rescue inhaler so you don't feel it as such. It is a steroid or long acting type of inhaler . good luck with it.
Q: is it ok to use advair diskus after doing a breathing treatment of albuterol?
A: Yes. In fact, for many, it is preferred. The albuterol helps to open tiny airways and relax the bronchial system. Thus, when you inhale the dry powder inhaler, more will be received in the airways, if done properly.

Observed During Clinical Practice
In addition to adverse events reported from clinical trials, the following events have been identified during worldwide use of any formulation of ADVAIR, fluticasone propionate, and/or salmeterol regardless of indication. Because they are reported voluntarily from a population of unknown size, estimates of frequency cannot be made. These events have been chosen for inclusion due to either their seriousness, frequency of reporting, or causal connection to ADVAIR DISKUS, fluticasone propionate, and/or salmeterol or a combination of these factors.
In extensive US and worldwide postmarketing experience with salmeterol, a component of ADVAIR DISKUS, serious exacerbations of asthma, including some that have been fatal, have been reported. In most cases, these have occurred in patients with severe asthma and/or in some patients in whom asthma has been acutely deteriorating (see WARNINGS), but they have also occurred in a few patients with less severe asthma. It was not possible from these reports to determine whether salmeterol contributed to these events.
Cardiovascular
Arrhythmias (including atrial fibrillation, extrasystoles, supraventricular tachycardia), ventricular tachycardia.
Ear, Nose, and Throat
Aphonia, earache, facial and oropharyngeal edema, paranasal sinus pain, throat soreness.
Endocrine and Metabolic
Cushing syndrome, Cushingoid features, growth velocity reduction in children/adolescents, hypercorticism, hyperglycemia, weight gain, osteoporosis.
Eye
Cataracts, glaucoma.
Gastrointestinal
Abdominal pain, dyspepsia, xerostomia.
Musculoskeletal
Back pain, cramps, muscle spasm, myositis.
Neurology
Paresthesia, restlessness.
Non-Site Specific
Immediate and delayed hypersensitivity reaction (including very rare anaphylactic reaction), pallor. Very rare anaphylactic reaction in patients with severe milk protein allergy.
Psychiatry
Agitation, aggression, depression.
Respiratory
Chest congestion; chest tightness; dyspnea; immediate bronchospasm; influenza; paradoxical bronchospasm; tracheitis; wheezing; reports of upper respiratory symptoms of laryngeal spasm, irritation, or swelling such as stridor or choking.
Skin
Contact dermatitis, contusions, ecchymoses, photodermatitis.
Urogenital
Dysmenorrhea, irregular menstrual cycle, pelvic inflammatory disease, vaginal candidiasis, vaginitis, vulvovaginitis.
Eosinophilic Conditions
In rare cases, patients on inhaled fluticasone propionate, a component of ADVAIR DISKUS, may present with systemic eosinophilic conditions, with some patients presenting with clinical features of vasculitis consistent with Churg-Strauss syndrome, a condition that is often treated with systemic corticosteroid therapy. These events usually, but not always, have been associated with the reduction and/or withdrawal of oral corticosteroid therapy following the introduction of fluticasone propionate. Cases of serious eosinophilic conditions have also been reported with other inhaled corticosteroids in this clinical setting. While ADVAIR DISKUS should not be used for transferring patients from systemic corticosteroid therapy, physicians should be alert to eosinophilia, vasculitic rash, worsening pulmonary symptoms, cardiac complications, and/or neuropathy presenting in their patients. A causal relationship between fluticasone propionate and these underlying conditions has not been established (see PRECAUTIONS: General: Eosinophilic Conditions ).
DRUG INTERACTIONS
ADVAIR DISKUS has been used concomitantly with other drugs, including short-acting beta2-agonists, methylxanthines, and intranasal corticosteroids, commonly used in patients with asthma or COPD, without adverse drug reactions. No formal drug interaction studies have been performed with ADVAIR DISKUS.
Not approved by FDA.

Q: ADVAIR DISKUS For Asthma?
ADVAIR DISKUS For Asthma
Question Details: Someone told me that the medince ADVAIR DISKUS that u inhale for asthma can cause heart problems and cause someones heart to stop.
Do u believe that???
Why or Why not???
Is it true???
Why or Why not???
A: wishingsmiles - I would not let that person get you too alarmed. The Advair Diskus is a good, albeit expensive, treatment for asthma that has very little risk for heart problems. Advair is actually a combination medication that contains a steroid (fluticasone) and a long-acting bronchodilator (salmeterol).
The steroid, fluticasone, is an anti-inflammatory medicine that is used to reduce the airway inflammation that is felt to be a key component of asthma. Oral steroids are generally avoided because of the long-term side effects, but inhaled steroids have more of a local effect in the lungs and are much less likely to cause any systemic problems. Inhaled steroids have never been shown to cause heart problems, but they do carry a small risk for lung infections, muscle pains, and adrenal suppression, usually in higher doses.
The inhaled bronchodilator, salmeterol, is something called a beta-adrenergic agonist. It causes the muscle that lines your airways to relax. If given intravenously, this class of medications increases heart rate and blood pressure. If any component of Advair could cause heart problems, it would be the salmeterol. However, as with the steroids, inhaled forms tend to act more locally and cause fewer systemic effects.
A pooled analysis in 2003 of the results from 7 different studies of salmeterol in patients with lung disease found NO EVIDENCE OF INCREASED RISK for cardiovascular problems. These studies monitored patients for anywhere from 12 weeks to 1 year. If you are taking Advair, you are probably MORE at risk of trouble caused by asthma from not taking it than you would be at risk of heart problems from taking it. Hope that's helpful!

Q: ADVAIR DISKUS WARNING Means???
ADVAIR DISKUS WARNING Means???
Question Details: What ALL does this Advair Diskus Warning Mean???
Read this ALL please& Than Answer:
Rarely, serious(sometimes fatal) asthma-related breathing problems have occurred with the use of long-acting inhaled beta agonists(e.g.,salmeterol)... product contains salmeterol in combination with fluticasone(a corticosteriod)It is not known if adding corticosteriod changes this risk. Therefore patients with asthma, this drug should only be prescribed when one long-term medication(e.g. inhaled corticosteriods)does not control breathing problems or when more than one long- term medication is clearly needed to control breathing problems. Before using this medication, it is important to learn how to use it properly.Discuss the risks and benefits of treatment with this medication with your doctor.
What ALL does it mean???
I'm so worried about taking it but I was prescribed it.
A: It basically means that not everyone can use this medication. Some people may have an allergic reaction to one of the ingrediants. Some people may find the drug does not help their asthma.
There are similar (or even more horrifying) warnings on every drug made.
What's more important with advair (which I've taken for years) is that you shake it well, hold it level, breathe in, do NOT breathe out into the canister, and rinse your mouth afterwards.
Q: People On ADVAIR DISKUS?
When u take your ADVAIR DISKUS dose:
(1.) Do u always feel the medince in your mouth???
(2.) Do u always taste the medince in your mouth???
(3.) Do u always feel the medince go down your throat???
Please reply soon.
A: Whoaaa....that last guy has some issues....
Anyway, Advair. I was on it for years before becoming prenant (that combination is bad, btw).
I could taste the medication following an inhalation. As with all steroidal inhalers you are supposed to rinse your mouth with wwater following a dose to reduce the risk of thrush (I have never done this and have never had thrush!). As for the other questions, I believe the "density" of the air may be detectable as you are inhaling, but I don't know if that means you are "feeling" the medication in your throat or not.......
Q: For Everyone On ADVAIR DISKUS?
Weren't u guys scared to take it because of all the warnings??
Like the death warning???
Why or Why not???
If u were how did u get over worrying about it???
Did u get tested to see if u had asthma before being prescribed it???
How old are u???
What doseage of ADVAIR DISKUS are u on???
Does it help really well to make it so that u dont have any asthma symptoms???
Why or Why not???
A: I am not one of those everybodies
I would never touch stuff like that
Q: For Thoses On ADVAIR DISKUS?
I have been taking Advair Diskus every morning at 10:00am & everynight at 10:00pm.
Is it ok if I keep taking 5 minutes early all the time???
Why or Why not???
I want to start taking it at 9:00 or 9:30 so I'm trying to keep taking it 5 minutes early all the time to get to that time.
If your not sure what All do u think???
And why???
A: the med is meant to be taken at about the same time everyday. a five minute difference isn't going to make an impact. if you tried taking it a couple hours apart you might be doing harm. go ahead and switch to 9. you don't need to maintain such small time intervals.
