Q: does the generic brand for cellcept work the same?
My husband had a liver transplant, and is on cellcept, which is over a $1000, a month. Does the generic brand work the same way?

A: it depends on the person all generics are that way, ask a doctor specifically about his case

Q: Can you still have a baby if you have taken cellcept beofre?
I have taken cellcept for about 5 years i havnt been on it going on 4 years, i have also taken prednisone on and off for 13 years. I was born with a kidney disease and im wanting to know if i can still have a child in the future or has any of this medication done something to my body? Because prednisone did stunt my growth when i was little.

A: It is possible, although difficult. It is usually more difficult, sometimes requiring intervention to become pregnant and maintain pregnancy. I would also take your age into some consideration. I have heard of stories on both sides, yes were able, no were not able to. I would recommend logging onto a forum for Lupus (I choose that one because they can typically come off the drug, as to wear kidney transplant patients do not) or one for your specific disease that has long time users of this drug. They should have a pregnancy section, whose members will be able to give you a play by play of their stories. Good Luck! Oh you can call the drug company, sometimes they keep a registry of women who have been pregnant and the outcomes. It is not a formal study, but sometimes they keep a general list. However, I would expect the list to be on women who were on cellcept during pregnancy and not future mommies whose PMH involved Cellcept.

Q: What if I don't remember if I took my Cellcept dose this morning?
I have SLE, and take 2 500mg Lupus pills in the morning and 2 at night. (2g total each day.) I can't remember if I took my dose this morning. Is it a better idea to take it again, even if it turns out I already did? Or not take it again and find out I didn't?

A: Unless you are absolutely sure you missed a dose, skip the missed dose. You are better off losing a dose than taking an extra.

Q: Does anyone know where I can find cheap cellcept?

Q: Is there anyone taking CellCept? If so, how long did you take it and what symptoms did you have?
SERIOUS REPLIES ONLY. THANKS! Hi, I was diagnosed with lupus almost 2 years ago after over 11 years of dealing with various symptoms and flares and kidney disease. Right now I am only taking 1/2 a 250 mg chloroquine tablet once a day but I still have pain and fatigue and my sed rate is going up slowly, which it does during seasonal changes. My doctor wants me to start chemo or steroids, which scares the crap out of me. I saw online that there is something called CellCept that may work to reduce lupus symptoms that may have more tolerable symptoms than chemo, but I don't want to jump into anything. Can someone who has lupus who has or is using CellCept tell me if it works, how long it works, if you experienced any really bad side effects and if so did you recover? And did the lupus come back? Thank you for your help.

A: My wife has been taking cellcept for her Lupus for the last two and a half years with little side effects. She was a little sick to her stomach at first but now it really doesn't affect her. It has done wonders for her Lupus flare ups though. She hasn't had kidney involvement since being on the drug and she is only taking 5 mg of prednisone right now. She also has antiocardiolipid syndrome and takes coumadin to thin her blood. If you have any more questions or would like some more detailed info please feel free to email me

Q: my daughter has been on cellcept 2000 mg for the last 3.5 yrs. is it possible to experience congnitive problem?
she seems to be showing some similarities to brain chemo....has anyone heard of this?

A: It would be best to ask her doctor. A doctor from the MDA clinic wanted me to take that for my myasthenis gravis. I did not like a side effect, white bms, and I quit taking it. That was 30 years ago. I felt better taking it. http://www.rxlist.com/cellcept-drug.htm click users reviews

Q: any urologists please answer which madicin is good cellcept or or the old ones?

A: Good for what? Different meds are "good" for different things.

Q: Cellcept responsiveness for patients with antibody-negative myasthenia gravis; is it worth a trial?
My neurologist is suggesting Cellcept, even though I have antibody-negative myasthenia gravis (hereditary...my mother, grandmother, and a couple of great-aunts all have it). He says that there are hundreds of types of antibodies, and we only now how to test for a few, so it's worth a trial of Cellcept to see if my symptoms improve. Does anyone else with antibody negative myasthenia gravis out there have any success with Cellcept? I already take Mestinon.

A: yes, but be fully aware of the side effects before doing it.

Q: I have to get the drug CELLCEPT. Where is the cheapest place to get it?
No insurance Thanks

A: Why would anyone want to take a drug that was going to suppress their immune system? That would be my first question to a doctor. The second question is, "what is the 'root cause' of the problem I'm having." If he can't answer that, I would find another doctor. The side effects of that garbage is quite incredible and you may find that you will have some additional expenses that you will face from taking it. If the problem is AIDS, etc., there may be much better ways to deal with the issue as well. To get the drug cheaper, call the manufacturer if you decide you need to pursue it and ask if they have any programs with the government to help you get the medication. The U.S. government promotes these companies heavily with money and many times they can help. good luck

Q: Is Cellcept drug prescribed to treat dermatomyositis?
My wife has had dermatomyositis for 2 years and seems to be doing well on 4 gram dose daily. Her hmo is now saying Cellcept is not authorized for dermatomyositis treatment. Are there others who are taking Cellcept for same problem?

A: Dermatomtositis is not an FDA approved indication for Cellcept. Many drugs are used by doctors very commonly for disorders that they are not FDA approved for. Cellcept is an incredible expensive drugs and insurance companies try very hard to not have to pay for very expensive drugs. Chances are you will need to contact you insurance and your doctor to get the medication approved.

Q: what are the long term effects of being on cellcept and methotrexate?

A: I don't know about cellcept. My dermatologist put me on methotrexate for psoriasis, and I took it for about four days. About the second night after I started, I developed severe sleep apnea ... every time I started to drop off to sleep, I'd jerk awake, realizing that I wasn't breathing. I didn't get any sleep for those three nights, and once I stopped taking it, it took a couple weeks for that to go away completely. Whew!! It wasn't listed as one of the possible side effects, but it sure hit me that way! Hope it works better for you!

Q: Cellcept interaction question?
I am writing a report on cellcept for my industrial tox class. If you can help with these questions or point me to a place that i can find this info out at, I would appreciate it! Does anybody know of a chemical that might be found in the workplace that could react with this drug? What chemical in cold medicine reacts with Cellcept?

A: http://www.webmd.com/drugs/mono-2108-MYCOPHENOLATE+MOFETIL+-+ORAL.aspx?drugid=4067&drugname=CellCept+Oral

Q: how fast will 1000mg of cellcept and 70mg of prednisome shut down the immune system?

A: Not enough information. Depends on the patient's body weight, metabolism, other underlying diseases, and even the mode of administration. But, those are not particularly high dosages. Unless the patient is very small or very frail, that amount won't totally turn off the immune system.

Q: My mum has MS and her doctor has now given her Cellcept to take (but this is for transplant patients)???
I have no idea why he has given her this as the side affects are so terrible it can only make her worst. Plus the only thing I can find about it is nothing to do with MS (multiple sclerosis). Has anyone had any experience of using this?

A: MS is one of many autoimmune diseases. One of the first lines of treatment for these disorders is a medication used for patients undergoing chemotherapy for cancer - methotrexate. I don't find it odd at all that the doctor prescribed a medication that is an autoimmune suppressant. Although the side effects of the medications used in treating autoimmune diseases can be harsh, the untreated disease would be far worse. Understanding more about the underlying disease process of MS may make it easier to understand the tactics being employed by her doctor. But, if you still question the doctor's approach, don't hesitate to seek a second opinion (or third, or forth).
