Q: Lamisil???
I used Lamisil (the pill) every day for 3 full months (March-end of June) for my two big toes. I saw the infection clear up but the new nail has not started growing in yet and it's been a month since I've been off the pill. When I went to the podiatrist about a month ago for a check up, he looked at them and said the medication was working. But how much longer do I have to wait to see the new nails start to grow in again?

A: I am still working on growing a new toenail after nearly one year, but it looks so much better. Hang in there.

Q: How do you avoid using Lamisil spray on the nails when you're supposed to use between the toes?
The Lamisil container (spray version, for athlete's foot) says to avoid using it on nails, but it says to spray your feet from several inches away, and also to use it between the toes, so how are you supposed to avoid the nails with those being so close together in the same area that you are spraying? It seems a cream would be better if you legitimately need to avoid the nails...

A: I think that it just means that don't expect the Lamisil to work on a fungus that is in the nail. It won't hurt if you get it on your toenails. Good luck!! And Happy Feet!!

Q: Are you able to drink a little while taking lamisil?
I started taking generic Lamisil three days ago.I heard that lamisil can be hard on the liver and assuming the generic version isthe same. Since it's the holidays I was wondering if it would be dangerous if I drink a little? What would be the limit if I am able to drink? I only drink during the Winter holidays so this is a once in a long time thing.

A: almost all medications are adversley affected by alcohol. so if you don't care about the effectiveness, go ahead. i always drink and if i'm taking anything, too bad.

Q: Should I use Lamisil Once on my psoriasis fingers?
I have just bought Lamisil Once for my psoriasis, I have this on my fingers and I have heara lot of bad things about using it on psoriasis, any advice?

Q: Is it safe to use Lamisil on my cat?
I adopted a cat a month ago and found out on Monday that she has ringworm. I am waiting for her oral medication to arrive, but in the meantime is it safe to use Lamisil on her ears and tail, where the ringworm is present? I am covered in ringworm patches and using Lamisil so thought it might help her a little until her oral medication arrives. Is it safe, if I rub it in all the way and monitor her licking on those areas?

A: A lot of human meds are toxic to animals so it's best to call a vet and ask if that is alright. He will tell you if it is and how much of a dose to give them. Never give an animal over the counter meds without consulting a vet.

Q: Has anyone ever used lamisil before for the toes? If yes how long before you saw results?
My big toes are curved upwards all my life that i can remember and recently discovered it was because of a fungus infection. Anyone has that problem? If yes how long before you were cured and what did you use if not lamisil?

A: it takes atleast a month before you will see results, and probably a couple months before the infection is completly gone.

Q: I have a little rash but all I have is Lamisil cream?
The rash is on my face and arms and it itches. I'm not going anywhere till tomorrow, do you think its okay to put a little Lamisil on it until I go to the store? It's a little skin irritation. Thanks in advance!

A: Lamisil is an antifungal. Unless your rash is a fungus, the Lamisil isn't really going to help it any. You're better off taking some Benadryl - the medicine will suppress your allergic reaction to whatever is causing the rash (that's what a rash is, an immune system reaction to something that irritated the skin) and help relieve the itching. Good luck!

Q: How long does Lamisil stay in your system for?
I have taken the antibiotic for the full dosage (six weeks), the last dose was two days ago. I am wondering how long it stays in your system for after finishing it. I would like to know if it is safe to drink alcohol now without reducing the effect of the antibiotic. Thanks.

A: Lamisil has a half life of 21 hours (the time it take for your body to excrete or metabolize half the drug left in your system. Otherwise the onset and duration of the medication is listed as unknown in my NDH 2009. After 4-5 days most of the drug should be gone.

Q: Could lorcet plus with lamisil cause dizziness and headaches?
Lorcet plus is for knee pain.. my doctor's out of town for this week and I am on bunch of pills including lamisil but since I started to take lorcet plus, i always get dizzy and get headaches.

A: Are you talking about LamiSil, or LamiCtal? LamiCtal is the drug often used for seizure control. I believe LamiSil is used for foot problems, but I'm not sure. Always, always, always check with a pharmacist - not Yahoo! answers- for questions like this, because this is a matter of life and death, and only a registered pharmacist is qualified to answer this! And also read the info that came with your meds, too!

Q: Has any one taken lamisil, and what side effects did they experience?
I am very conserned about the side effects of lamisil, but i feel like its my only option because my toe nail condition is only getting worse, I would not mind if it just stayed the same but it is progressing. So please help with your answers.

A: Lamisil is for nail fungal infections either toes or fingers. The thing to be concerned about oral Lamisil is your liver functioning. Your doctor should have drawn a baseline liver panel before beginning the medication and should do a follow panel every 8-12 weeks. You probably won't see any progress for 2-3 months.

Q: what happens if i drink alchohol and am taking lamisil tablets?
I read the warnings and it doesn't mention anything?

A: If you drink enough you will get drunk for one thing. Did you read the warning on the bottle of medicine...duh ...does it mention not to used with alcohol?

Q: What is the best thing to do for toenail fungus? Without taking the pills like lamisil.?
I am only 16 and have toenail fungus! I can hardly wear flipflops because it looks so bad. PLEASE HELP!

A: You can kill toenail fungus with a strong soapy water (really scrub), with tea tree oil, with clove oil, or by coating your feet with honey which will draw out the moisture from the fungus and cause it to die. If you use honey, you still have to scrub a lot afterwards. If your toenail fungus is underneath the nails, the oils will work the best but you may have to see a doctor. For the oils: once a day, for 20 minutes and use generous amounts. You could actually use garlic oil too but your breath would end up smelling like garlic as your body absorbs the stuff.

Q: Does anyone know how to treat a toe nail infections without lamisil?
Anything that can be done at home. Also there is a yellow discoloration on the toes also. Natural remedies would be appreciated. Serious answers please. Thanks

A: My mom suggested putting a generous layer of Vick's all around the affected area. She said it has something to do with suffocating the fungus. I think petroleum jelly will do the job, too. Regardless of how it works, I'm glad it does, and I'm glad I'm not the only one that's heard of this solution. Also, it's remarkable for keeping your feet warm. And it really is good for your sinuses. I would never be able to sleep with a cold if I didn't have any.

Q: Has anyone out there ever used Lamisil for toenail fungus?
If so. Does it work well ? And were there any side effects ? Thanks for your replies Your the first person Ive heard that from mermere. That's not to say I don't believe you but that most have told me either it gave them some side effects or it worked very slowly. Thanks for your answer.

A: Yes, and it works. Had a few skin patches on lower legs that showed discoloration, like a mild burn, but, it faded out eventually. Make sure to wipe your feet dry after taking a shower or swimming before putting on socks and shoes. See the links below for more detailed information.

Q: Has anyone ever taken Lamisil tablets for Toe nail fungus?
My doctor is about to prescribe me lamisil tablets for my toe nail fungus. I know it can cause liver damage and they said that's why they monitor your blood work every month. I am still scared to take it. Has anyone ever taken it? How did it work? Did you have any side effects? Did it clear up your infection?

A: I took Lamisil for about a month and it does work. A new nail started to grow out and it was looking really good. I've had this stomach toe nail fungus for like 3 yrs now. It's very embarrassing. I don't know how I got it but it may've been from getting my toe nails done. The only reason I didn't take it past a month was because my doctor messed up and only gave me enough to take for 6wks. I'm going back again next month and hopefully I'll get a three month supply this time. I also went it for the blood work and I was fine. I think the chances of it affecting your liver are pretty small. I also used to take this other anti-fungul pill from Colombia which I can't think of the name but I only had to take it once a week and it worked so good! Half my new was clear and looking really good. I took the other half off and I guess It was either because I did that or b/c I stopped taking it that the fungus came back again. I also stopped taking it cause I had my gall bladder removed and didn't wanna be taking stuff anymore. But nothing I do recommend you taking it so you'll get rid of that toe nail fungus. Trust me, I know how HORRIBLE & EMBARRASSING it is to have one.
