Q: Is there a herb that will open up blood vessels more?
I am taking Adalat XL together with my blood pressure pills. They are making me completely exhausted (have looked up side effects) I cannot function properly, just have to lay down. Since taking it my blood pressure has gone down and it does work, however, I am not willing to give up my daily energy and feel so completely out of it, if I could find some alternative. Anybody have any ideas?

A: There are some great traditional Chinese medicines available Most large cities will now have shops or clinics selling such herbs. Practitioners can prescribe herbs that open the blood vessels and promote the flow of blood. These include hawthorn, frankincense, myrrh, santalum wood, aristolochia root, and borneol crystals. They also recommend acupuncture or acupressure as well as exercise such as Tai Chi and Qigong.

Q: Always tired?
I recently had a baby Sept 20/07 I had PIH disorder, I was put on 60 mg of Adalat XL and also 200mg of labitatol 3 times a day... I have since been ordered to stop taking the Labitatol. I find that around 5-6pm every night I get really tired, I have been taking my BP at home and it is ok not perfect. I notice elevated heart rate once and a while, I do know that I suffer from anxiety but do not know that this is directly connected.. What is wrong with me ?

A: Usually medicine has certain side-effects that increases heart rate in women talk to you're doctor about it and he or she probably can resolve it

Q: question about medicine?
Here are the medicines I take EVERYDAY, do you think it's alot for a 16 year old?: -amitriptyline 20 mg once daily. -adalat XL 30 mg once daily. -Slow K 60 mg twice daily. -Bentylol 10 mg three times daily. -Naproxen 250 mg twice daily. -tylenol 3 with kodene when needed. -Nystatin cream twice daily -Hydro cortisone cream twice daily. they are definitely all prescribed lmfaoo. and i need the tylenol 3 because regular tylenol isn't strong enough. -amitriptyline 20 mg once daily. *for IBS -adalat XL 30 mg once daily. *for severe reynolds -Slow K 60 mg twice daily. *constant low potassium -Bentylol 10 mg three times daily. *for bowel spasms, to relieve pain. -Naproxen 250 mg twice daily. *for arthritis. -tylenol 3 with kodene when needed. *for pain. no skin problems, i'm just allergic to my braces so that what the creams are used to control. and they are all medications i will be taking for the rest of my life no doubt the doctors have all said. i have over 10 different specialists, i have gone to the best hospitals in canada, they all agree. i can't get them taken off now because i'm almost done my treatment with them, so it would be pointless.

A: Yeah, I think it's a lot for a sixtenn year-old.

Q: High BP and Headaches 5 months after baby!?
I have a 5 month old daughter who was delivered 1 month early due to pre ecclampsia. I was suffering from very high bp (at it's peak 2 days before the c-section it was 165/100), severe headaches and nausea (which may or may not have resulted from the PE as I was sick throughout anyway). During the delivery my bp was extremely high, but as soon as the placenta was delivered it crashed and maintained in a low-normal range. 1 week later it started to climb and was back up to it's peak again and would not go back down. I was placed on Adalat XL 30 mg once daily and that seemed to help. The headaches specifically went away (think migrane that cannot be treated. These go on day in and day out) Now, 5 months later I am still on these pills (same dosage, once daily) and the headaches are returning. My BP is climbing up again even on the pills (but is not climbing up to **panic highs**). It is currently at 145/95. The headaches have returned full force and are terrible to deal with. The doctor is at a loss, as my dosage is quite high already. Is there anything *I* can do to try and get this lowered and to make these headaches stop? I have 2 small children and it is so hard to go about my days while I am basically suffering a migrane that I cannot treat. I am taking my pills, I have not missed any. I am concerned that with the BP rising of what could happen. I know that a stroke is possible (if it goes high enough), but it is really getting hard to deal with day to day issues while I am not feeling well. Just to be clear to all, NOTHING (tylenol, advil, T3's, etc) will take these headaches away, the high blood pressure is causing them. Any suggestions welcome! Thank you!

A: the best advice is neuromedical consultation, you can solve both of your problems.
