Q: Why do i get heartburn when i take zoloft?
Lately when I have been taking zoloft, i get heartburn, or at least what i think is heartburn. It is a sensation starting in my chest and goes to my lower esophagus.
A: I would consult your GP or consult a pharmacist and ask them the questions . Drugs will have reactions to different people . Good luck and have a great day .
Q: What can I do for my depression until zoloft kicks in?
I've been on zoloft for about 3 days now, and it will be at least 3 weeks before it actually starts to work. In the meantime, I am still very depressed and can hardly get out of bed in the morning. What can I do for my depression until the medication starts to work?
A: Trash the advice from the "pity party" poster. Depression is a serious illness and who the heck would want to have it. If we could will it out of our system we would. No one who has ever suffered from depression would say stupid things like that. This is going to be really hard for you to do, but you have to be patient. I was severely depressed and started with Zoloft which was gradually increased. It worked but not enough so Wellbutrin was added(as the psych said it' gives you the push to get going) I don't want to discourage you, but it takes time. If you keep focusing on o.k. it's 2 wks. 1 day and you don't feel better you'll just add to your misery. The meds are truly wonderful, lifesavers in fact. But there's no magic. It was 6 months before I felt closer to my own personality, and a full year before I could say "yup, I'm gonna make it I'm back". As I said to my psychiatrist early on "all I can do is get through the day". And she said "for now that's all you can do". My therapist said "lower your expectations". It's very hard. Hopefully you have good friends, family with whom you can be even if you don't feel like it. All these little steps add up. Don't give up I've been there, I'll pray for you.
Q: How long does the side effects of stopping Zoloft last ?
I was on 100mg Zoloft for about 2 years and decided to stop, I stared taking half the amount for about 2 weeks and than stopped completely.
The symtoms are dizziness and I'm tired most of the time.
How long does it last ?
A: Probably a couple more weeks. It's a weird, brain-altering drug which takes a while to gain effect and another while for its effects to subside. You did the right thing by cutting back before stopping entirely. Your continuing side effects are normal at this stage. Hang in there a couple more weeks.
Q: How long before I feel the effects of Zoloft?
I just started taking 25 mg zoloft on Thursday for depression and some other conditions. How long does it usually take to start to feel the effects?
A: Usually it takes about 14 days. They are not miracle pills; furthermore, 25mg is usually the initial starting dose. It may have to be increased over time. Keep in touch with the prescribing doctor as to how you are feeling. Good Luck!
Q: What are the side effects of both antidepressants Zoloft and Prozac?
I might schedule an appointment with my doctor to ask whether I have a depressive disorder, sometime in January, and I was going to inquire about both of these drugs to the physician.
If someone could kindly give me the pros and cons of both Zoloft and Prozac, I'd really appreciate it.
A: Prozac has been associated with forgetfullness, drowsiness, Nausea, constipation...but has also been around alot longer..and I tend to trust its effectiveness more...
Zoloft has many of the same adverse reactions, but works somewhat faster...but is fairly new to the market (in the terms of time related to drug availability)
With that said, there are many drugs out there and your doc will know what to prescribe you for your symptoms and lifestyle!!
Good Luck and Congratulations on seeking help...
Q: Will Zoloft make you feel sick if you stop taking it for a few days, and start again?
I've been taking Zoloft for about 6 months now. Last weekend I didn't take it bc I wasn't home. Every night I felt sick to my stomach. So yesterday I took 2 50MG and that was way too much. My question is....Will Zoloft make you feel sick if you don't take it for a few days and start taking it again?
A: Yes! I have taken it in the past & feel like crap getting on the meds. & coming off of it also. It is VERY important that you speak to a doctor when stopping for good because its more of a gradual thing not a cold turkey, but in your case missing will make you feel bad because your body becomes dependent even though it is not susposed to be adicting.
Q: Who knows an effective and safe tapering schedule for Zoloft?
Im on 100mgs of Zoloft for 3 months. Now want to quit.In what way should I taper off.Details please
A: Ask your doctor. It's not safe to stop your meds on your own.
Q: Can Zoloft cause me to miss or have a late period?
I've been taking Zoloft for about 11 days now and I should have already started my period. Can Zoloft cause me to have a late period or to completely miss a period. I've already taken two pregnancy tests and they have both been negative so I don't think the late period is related to pregnancy.
A: yes zoloft can make you miss or make you have a late period i am a male so i wouldn't know.
Hope This helps
Q: I have been on zoloft for a while and I sweat so much everyone thinks i have had a shower, am i alone on this?
I am taking 200mg of zoloft and have some side effects, dry mouth, feeling sick and sweating is one of the worst side effect I have and its becoming embarrassing. Any help would be appreciated.
A: well thats is for sure a side effect you need to make an appt. with doctor and see what he says if you been on it for a long time then there something wrong if you just started to take it then it might just be normal..
Q: What are the side effects of taking a diet pill while your on an anti-depressant called Zoloft?
I am currently taking 100 mg of Zoloft for my depression.
I am wondering if it's safe for me to take a diet pill of some kind. What are the pros & cons?
A: It depends on the type of pill and the ingredients. It could cause serious reactions or just make the Zoloft less effective, you should always consult your pharmacist or doctor before taking any OTC (over the counter) drugs or supplements. They will advise you on the safety or dangers.
Q: Can you substitute prozac for Zoloft in an emergency?
I am currently taking 100mg of zoloft/qd. My doctor is out of town and my perscription is running out (there isn't a doctor on call for him) so I was wondering if it would be safe to take prozac in the meantime until I can get a refill? Thanks in advance!
A: Since your doctor it out I would call the pharmacy where you get your perscription and speak with the pharmacist . Believe me they sometimes know more than the doctors do about medicine.
Q: Does zoloft 100mg make you drowsy straight after you take it?
I mean is it kind of like a sleeping tablet. Also when you drink and take zoloft does it make you more drowsy?
A: This will vary with everybody.Any/All medications can cause drowsiness in some, while energy in others.
Now there are some paticular antidepressants that are more well known to cause a certain effect in "most",such as Prozac,it normally causes energy in "most" who take it,as opposed to let's say Elavil, who will cause sedation/relaxation in "most" who take it.
But again, the bottom line is EVERY antidepressant works differently in EACH individual person.
And BTW...alcohol is a DEPRESSANT,so your kind of defeating the purpose of Zoloft if your drinking with while on it.
Q: What are some bad effects that you have gotten from Zoloft?
Im having issues with my new meds can anyone shed some light on my issue and I really need to hear from people who have taken this and experienced not so pleasing results from Zoloft. I have a feeling it just might not be for me! Only people who have taken Zoloft please respond! Thankyou soo much! I will be talking to my doc soon about this but I just want to hear peoples opionion and experiences.
A: Drowsiness was the biggest one. I slept through alarms.
Ironically, the effect was TOO strong. It eliminated worry to a major degree. I was cutting classes... and I just didn't care. All my anxiety was removed.
I quit cold turkey because my reaction was too strong.
Q: How do I lose weight while on Zoloft?
I am sixteen years old, 5'7", and very overweight (210 pounds). I am trying to lose weight, but my metabolism is slow, because I am taking Zoloft 200 milligrams for depression, anxiety, and OCD, and one of the side effects is slowed down metabolism. Because of this, no matter what I do, I cannot even lose a pound. Does anyone have any suggestions?
A: Hmm... I'm not sure combining medicines is a great idea. My trainer recommended 8 hour energy for my lethargy, and I've lost 15 pounds in the past 2 months without doing anything different (actually - I weighed myself after a week of eating buffets in Vegas, so it amazed me even moreso)
Q: What can I take for my severe headaches, caused by withdrawal from my Zoloft medication?
I've slowly reduced my Zoloft dosage from 50 mg down to nothing, and now I'm suffering from the most intense headaches I've ever had in my life. The headaches are focused around my eyes and also the back of the head, and are accompanied by dizziness, blurred vision, etc. Nothing I take seems to decrease the headaches.
Has anyone experienced this before? Any advice on an over-the-counter pain killer that will help with this headaches & vertigo? Thanks!
A: I would of at least weened myself off slower by taking the 25 mg for awhile, the side affects are less severe with each decreasing dose.Your doctor will prescribe you something to ease these effects, something that is not addictive.
