Q: does anyone know about the commercial caduet? Inwould like to know if twins are used for this comercial?
This Caduet commercial, seems as though the
people that make the commercial on cholesteral/heart medication are useing Twins. are they?
A: I think it's more CGI than twins. Computers can do some really neat things when it comes to cinematography and I think that's exactly what's happening.
While I can't they that twins are not used in the filming of commercials, why go to all that trouble when a computer can give it to you much more easily?

Q: Is the Caduet Commercial filmed in Muir Woods in Marin County, CA? It sure looks like it!?
The caduet commercial shows a man who is split into two, merging back into one - it looks like one of the trails in Muir Woods. Does anyone know the real location?
A: Looks like they shot at least part of it in Humboldt County, CA.
Q: Do you prefer Caduet or Lipitor? How do you check for liver problems?
A: i take lipitor. but at times my liver shows that something is too high-- enyzime. they take and draw blood. it shows if there is a liver problem. also ask for a blood workup. i still keep taking the med. i know it's a statin and works thru my liver. but they just tell me if the enyzime is to high or normal.
Q: My Dr. prescribed Caduet. I have only taken 1 dose, but am experiencing terrible abdominal pain.?
My Dr. prescribed caduet 5-40. I took my first dose yesterday and about 1 hour later started feeling excruciating abdominal pain. His office is closed for the rest of the day. Could just one dose cause this? It still hurts a lot, but at first it was worse than labor pains. Should I take todays dose?
A: I would still take the recommend doses, it takes about 3 days for things to get into your system, so it might not be that, if you are having serious problems maybe you should go to your emergency room and get checked out, it could be something really bad, that isn't caused by the medication.
Q: There is a Caduet commercial with a woman walking on the beach. Do you know where is the filmed?
This is the commercial where the women is walking on the beach, splits into two people and then becomes one again.
A: I do not know, but my best guess is East coast up north - maybe New England. It does not look like a lake of course, and it does not seem like the Pacific.
Q: My Mom's having problems seeing and she's taking Caduet and Lipitor?
My Mom is taking Caduet and Lipitor and she's having problems focusing and what's called diplopia or double vision. I found these are side effects for this medication. Does anyone know if she stops it if her sight should return to normal? Also, are there other medications that will do the same type of things that might be used as replacements for this medication? Her eyes are not yellow and she has had liver tests which are ok.
Ooops it isn't lipitor, it was Caduet and Ambien she was taking. I'm going to have her ask her doctor about those you mentioned and look them up for her online. Thanks so much!! Do you think she can correct the problems she's got with muscle weakness by stopping and doing eye exercises?
A: First I would question why your mother is being given 2 doses of the "statin" drug (atorvastatin, aka Lipitor, which is also a component of Caduet). She may be overdosed on the statin side, although diplopia is more associated with the calcium channel blocker component of Caduet (amlodipine, aka Norvasc). The risk here is rhabdomyolysis, a painful breakdown of muscle tissue.
There are many alternative calcium channel blockers that can be tried, including Procardia and Cardizem. Your physician (hopefully) should know the side effects for each.
Q: what are some side effects from the medicine caduet?
A: • Rare cases of muscle problems and liver problems have been associated with the use of atorvastatin and other similar drugs. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, especially if accompanied by fever or flulike symptoms, yellowing of the skin or eyes, abdominal pain, unexplained fatigue, dark colored urine, or pale colored stools. These may be early symptoms of muscle or liver problems.
• If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking Caduet and seek emergency medical attention or contact your doctor immediately:
· an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives);
· unusually fast or slow heartbeats;
· chest pain;
· severe dizziness or fainting; or
· moderate or severe swelling of the legs or ankles.
• Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take Caduet and talk to your doctor if you experience
· mild swelling or fluid retention;
· dizziness or drowsiness;
· nausea;
· flushing; or
· irregular or increased heart beats.
• Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.
Q: Is Caduet alright for someone with type 2 diabetes?
A: The following from WebMD:
>>This drug should not be used with the following medications because very serious (possibly fatal) interactions may occur: certain azole antifungals (e.g., itraconazole, ketoconazole), certain macrolide antibiotics (e.g., clarithromycin, erythromycin, troleandomycin), nefazodone, telithromycin.
If you are currently using any of these medications, tell your doctor or pharmacist before starting amlodipine/atorvastatin.
Use caution if the following drugs are combined with atorvastatin because serious side effects such as muscle injury (myopathy) infrequently could occur: fibrates (e.g., gemfibrozil, fenofibrate), high-dose niacin (1 gram or more per day).
Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription/herbal products you may use, especially of: birth control pills, intravenous (IV) calcium, other medications for chest pain (e.g., nitroglycerin), clopidogrel, digoxin, other high blood pressure medications (e.g., beta-blockers, "water pills"/diuretics), HIV protease inhibitors (e.g., indinavir, ritonavir), other drugs which affect certain liver enzymes (CYP 3A4 substrates, inhibitors, and inducers such as amiodarone, cyclosporine, diltiazem, verapamil, rifampin, St. John's wort, carbamazepine).
Check the labels on all your medicines (e.g., cough-and-cold products, diet aids) because they may contain ingredients that could increase your heart rate or blood pressure. Ask your pharmacist about the safe use of those products.
Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.<<
Additionally:
>>This product contains a calcium channel blocker, amlodipine, and a "statin" (HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor), atorvastatin. Amlodipine works by blocking calcium which relaxes and widens the blood vessels. It is used to treat high blood pressure or chest pain (angina). Atorvastatin is used along with a proper diet to help lower cholesterol and fats (triglycerides) in the blood. It is usually prescribed after non-drug treatments (e.g., diet change, increase in exercise, weight loss if overweight) have not been fully successful at lowering cholesterol. Atorvastatin is used in adults and children (10 years of age and older). Before starting this combination product, girls must have had their first menstrual period.
Reducing high blood pressure, cholesterol and triglycerides help prevent strokes and heart attacks. Reducing high blood pressure also helps prevent kidney problems.<< , so I'm guessing that your doctor did not see change in your condition from changes in diet and lifestyle, which is why he/sh prescribed it. There does not seem to be any indicated safety concern regarding patients taking this in conjunction with diabetes medication, so it should be safe. But, if you have any concerns, you're best off addressing them with a professional such as your physician or pharmacist. You'd be surprised at the home pharmacy I have in my medicine cabinet, from all the conditions I'm dealing with (over 20 prescriptions), and none of them interact, thanks to diligence by my doctor and pharmacist.
Q: can caduet be used by someone with Type 2 diabetes?
A: Type 2 diabetes is not a contraindication for Caduet. So there should not be a problem with using Caduet if you have diabetes.
Q: I HAVE WHAT IS CALLED RHABDOMYOLYSIS CAUSED BY CADUET. CAN IT BE CURED AND DO I NEED TO SUE WHO IS RESPONSIBLE?
I HAD HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE AND HIGH CHOLESTEROL, SO MY DOCTOR PRESCRIBED CADUET. I TOOK THIS FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS AND COMPLAINED ABOUT SORE MUSSLES AND FATIGUE. I WENT BACK AND WAS TOLD TO CONTINUE TAKING THE MEDICATION. I WAS AT A POINT I COULDNT GET OUT OF BED. I LOST MY 6 FIGURE JOB AND NOW UNEMPLOYED. MY NEW DOCTOR SAYS I HAVE THIS DECEASE FROM THE MEDS. NOW WHAT DO I DO? IS THIS DANGEROUS? CAN THIS BE CURED? I CAN'T EVEN WALK THE DOG NOW I'M IN PAIN.
A: Join the crowd. If you actually have Rhabdomyolysis, you are lucky to be alive. By the time your liver enzymes are elevated, you have permanent muscle damage, including the heart.
Now take a deep breath. You are not alone and there is a lot of good information on this website www.spacedoc.net Make sure to read the Forum section as there are thousands of us who believe we have permanent damage but much progress can be made. Start today with CoQ10, the largest dose you can find and take it every day. Also selenium. Have you had your testosterone checked. Testosterone will help strengthen your muscles and is inhibited by low cholesterol.
Would it help to know that your depression and memory loss are also caused by the drugs? Hmm, who mentioned memory loss?
Good luck on a lawsuit. The only good thing is that everyone knows this can happen, most of us have side effects that the drug companies will not admit are due to statins. The doctor that did not take you serious when you complained, is really on the hook.
Keep in touch, I will give you my email
Pharmacist who's life was almost ruined by Lipitor
Q: Why do pharmaceutical corporations make commercials in nature?
Whatever prescribtion those evil pharmacy corporations are trying to push (Caduet, Lipitor, Cialis, ect.) they always have a man or a woman (whoever they are targeting) set in a natural setting (forest or scenic hills). why? Is it because they are pushing something totally man made and not natural at all thus they want to have the settings for theirc commercials be nature itself?
A: Because by doing that they are sending subliminal messages to us poor little unsuspecting mere mortals that the chemical and toxic sludge that they have packaged into pretty little boxes are in some way shape or form either related to the fancy little pictures (perhaps they mention being derived from vegetable oils or essential oils !!) that accompanied them in the advertisement or that when you have a symptom relating to that particular drug they are trying to pump into you, you will firstly remember the fancy little "nature" picture that accompanied it and therefore associate it with a "pretty" little feeling ............ mind games basically♥

Q: i am 30 & would like to know if being on Caduet is too extreme? my dr. rx'd it 4 me?
A: If you have both hypertension and dyslipidemia then it is not extreme. Caduet (amlodipine and atorvastin) is designed to treat both.
Q: is caduet the first drug used to treat hypertension and high cholesterol? ?
A: Caduet is simply a combination of two medications that have been on the market for some time. Norvasc and Lipitor. It, therefore, probably is the only one to do these two things, but there is no shortage of drugs to lower blood pressure and other drugs to lower cholesterol.
