Q: wellbutrin XL?
I just picked up my prescription for wellbutrin XL to treat fatigue (not depression!) and I have been reading some of the reviews and I can say that I'm really quite nervous to try it.
I don't mind taking supplements, but when it's something that messes with your brain chemistry, it scares me a bit.
I'm really annoyed with how I've been feeling lately, so I'd like to try if it it works; I'm just more worried about the side-effects.
Thoughts?
A: the thing about putting side effects on any medication is that if they try it out on 1,000 people, if just 1 person out of how ever many they are testing it on has the side effect, they have to put it on the warnings. i took wellbutrin for 3 yrs and my husb takes it now. its the only antidepressant that does not decrease the sex drive and it is also used to help people quit smoking.
the only time i would NOT take it, is if you have epilepsy. it does increase your risk of seizures
you shouldnt have a problem w/ it at all. its good and should work i would try it for about 2 weeks, if you dont notice a difference, see about something else.
if you are that tired, have your dr test your iron and B12 levels. he can give you B12 injections (that work wonders for fatigue) that you get every 2 weeks or 4 weeks depending on how low your levels are.
Q: Wellbutrin XL?
Has anyone taken Wellbutrin XL? When you first started it were there any major side effects?
A: it is a stimulant.. albiet an abnormal kind, because it stimulates without increasing confidence.. so at large doses a person is anxiuos because they are caused to think a ton without the cofidence of increased dopamine... funny, cus bupropoin is supposed to be a dopamine agonist.. i presume it effects receptor subtypes that are not well documented.
any sexual "side" effects will be good. other than that, if you were very unusual you might be anxious.
sorry for the long wind.. 100-200mg you might feel a bit motivated, or a bit anxious. thats about it... very very very few people have seizures.(more likely to win 100,000)
Q: What is the difference between Wellbutrin XL and Wellbutrin XR? Has anyone taken them together?
I have been taking Wellbutrin XL 150 mg, I tried to increase the dose to 300mg but I feel kind of agitated(today is the fourth day). My doctor said I could take the 150 XL with XR 75 mg to lessen the side effects. Anyone have any advice? Should I give the 300 mg a few more days first?
A: Actually, the wellbutrin SR is a twice a day dosing, which means it goes into and out of your system slightly faster. The Wellbutrin XL has a time release so it continues to work over 24 hours. You can take the two together....just remember it is the same medications, so don't take too much. Your doc probably was just finding a way to give you 225mg (more than the 150mg but less than the full 300mg). If your agitation is severe, you may want to try the 225mg dosing. If the agitation is just "annoying" then you could stay at the 300mg and give it another chance.
Q: For people who have taken Wellbutrin XL, have you experienced your ears ringing as a side effect?
I've been taking Wellbutrin XL 300 MG for about two weeks because have Seasonal Affect Disorder. My appetite is barely exists, have insomnia, and now experience ringing in the ears.
A: As for the ringing in the ears, that one is new to me. Wellbutrin can affect you appetite and sleep. I think you need to let your doctor know the effects the med is having on you. He may not think you are having any side effects unless you tell him. He may then change your dosage or put you on another medication that won't have that side effect. Please let the doctor know.
Q: Can going off wellbutrin xl make you gain weight?
i just recently cut my dosage of wellbutrin xl in half. i went from 400mg to 200mg. i noticed that i seem to be gaining a lot of weight. i'm not eating any differently. could this be the cause?
A: No medicine causes weight gain per se, it's the healthy activities of the body that do that. For instance, I take a mood stabilizer. Some people have gained lots of weight on it because it it causes blockage of some sodium receptors on the brain so they can't stop eating salt. Some people blame their weight gain on medicine when their metabolism has simply slowed over time.
I've heard others say that Wellbutrin caused their weight gain in the first place, so I'm interested to see other responses.
Q: I have been taking Wellbutrin XL 300 for depression and anxiety but it doesn't help my anxiety. Is it common?
I have been taking Wellbutrin XL 300 for the past 9months for depression, but I also suffer from anxiety. My doctor says that the Wellbutrin XL 300 should work for my anxiety but I do not believe it is working. She doesn't want to prescripe me an anti-anxiety drug because she thinks the Wellbutrin should take care of the anxiety. Does anyone else still suffer from anxiety while taking Wellbutrin XL 300 and if so what should i do?
A: Wellbutrin has an OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder) reduction component. I would have to guess your anxiety is repetitive thoughts.
I'm not knowledgeable on anti-anxiety meds. I do take Seroquel at night. It has the lovely distinction of being called an anti-psychotic. It's prescribed for anxiety along with a host of other diagnoses.
Risperdal cut my anxiety when I took it on a backpack trip through Europe. I still take them as needed.
If you tell your doctor that you posited a question on the internet, they will sit-up very strait and very fast :) Then they will listen like their job depends on it, because it will. They can't have their patients falling over dead because the patient didn't get answers from the doc and went to the web instead. :)
Q: Can Wellbutrin XL cause high blood pressure?
I take Wellbutrin XL, and lately I've been feeling ill while on it. Some of the symptoms I have are dizziness, nausea, fatigue, pounding heartbeat, jerky movements, and a general feeling of being ill.
The symptoms are worse especially after exercise.
Could these be symptoms of high blood pressure?
A: Yes one possible side effect of Wellbutrin XL is high blood pressure.
You need to discuss these symptoms with your doctor. It could be related to the medication, or a different medication, or something else. Also, consulting a pharmacist would be a good idea.

Q: Will something bad happen if I am on Wellbutrin XL and I had an eating disorder 3 years ago?
I am on my first week of Wellbutrin XL 150 mg, so far I like how I feel and have had no major side effects. Of course when you research any drug the side effects can be scary so I try not to freak myself out. I had an eating disorder 3 years ago (mild bulimia) , does this mean something bad could still happen to me?
A: I don't know what that has to do w/ an eating disorder, sorry.
Q: what are the effects of when you quite taking wellbutrin xl?
I am trying to get off Wellbutrin xl and am having aftereffects after only 2 days. Anyone else out there have dealings with the stuff? Thanks :)
A: Is this a controlled withdrawal? Make sure your doctor knows about your symptoms so they can help you!
xx Cara
Q: wellbutrin xl?
Using Wellburtin to treat eating disorder. Will it work?
It's not for overeating, well i told the Dr. I was in recovery which is true.
I am in recovery from ana/mia
A: Actually, it's recommended those with eating disorders NOT take wellbutrin! If it's overeating that might be different, but anorexia or bulemia definetly not. Otherwise, it's effective for overeaters. It reduces appetite AND cravings.
Q: If you get put on a lose dose of Wellbutrin XL, can you stay at that dose?
I was put on a lose dose of Wellbutrin XL but was scared to increase the dose due to developing a tic. I don't want the tic to be worse if increased. I have Tourette's but this was a new tic from the medication. Is there a way to stay low?
A: If you've developed a tic from the medication, you might want to consider having your doctor switch you to a different medication. There are other medications out there that serve the same purpose that may not have the same effects. If you want to stay on the medication, you are only increased in dosage if you aren't finding any relief from the lower dosage. If you're experiencing good results from the low dose, you can stay there. Otherwise, they'll want to increase your dosage. If you're having a severe side effect like a tic, you're better off trying a different medication. It can sometimes take a few tries before you find the one that fits you best.
Q: I have been taking Wellbutrin XL 300 mg for 4 months and then I went a week without it?
I have been taking Wellbutrin XL 300 mg for 4 months and then I went a week without taking it. I just didn't have the money to get my refill..But now that I am gonna be taking it tommorow, how long will it take to start working? Immediate? Or am I looking at the initial 3-4 week wait like starting Wellbutrin XL?
A: I'm not sure how that works, I would call the pharmacist and ask.
But in reference to not being able to afford your prescription, I am also taking wellbutrin, my insurance does not cover it, if yours does not cover it either, I found it considerably cheaper at Costco than any other place. You don't need a membership to use their pharmacy.
Q: Will Wellbutrin XL eventually make the tics go away?
I was put on Wellbutrin XL for ADD and I had a side effect tic. I do have Tourette's, but this was a new one from the medication. Will the new tic eventually go away? I stopped it but I want to go back on because it works!! But I don't want a new tic.
A: Your doctor is the only one who can tell you. It may be that the medication which is working for you can be adjusted a bit so that you can take it again with no 'side effects' ..call and make an appointment to see him. He knows you..he knows your history..trust him to know what to do! ♥
Q: I am on Wellbutrin XL for Depression. Can I stop taking them on the weekends so I can drink?
The problem is that I like to drink socially on the weekends when I'm out with my friends. I have already drank twice on Wellbutrin. One night I had one shot and 3 mixed drinks. The other night I had 2 mixed drinks. I didn't have any problems. However, I read that your not supposed to drink on Wellbutrin XL. I was wondering if I could just not take the meds on the weekend and be safe or will it still have the potential to hurt me? Also what exactly will it do? Thanks
Thanks for you advice. Also I think it is very rude to call people idoits. And as for as drinking making me more depressed. That is to true! I never feel depressed when I drink. Thanks again.
I meant to say that it is so NOT true that I feel depressed when I drink.
A: I am on the same medication. Wellbutrin is not only for depression, it also is prescribed for people who want to quick smoking, and it also helps to lose weight.
I went off of it a couple of times, and never had any side effects. But if your suffering from depression, why would you want to drink? It only makes you more depressed!
